How To Boost Your Self-Confidence | Guest Post

Thursday, November 05, 2015

Among the most important things that are essential for success in life are your self-esteem and self-confidence. This is something which should be actively sought after. Unfortunately, most of us are looking at the external indicators such as how people react to what we say or do, and forget that these external indicators are affected by the people who respond, with their own experience and expectations.

As we cannot influence this, it is essential to build confidence within. Once we know our worth and who we are, the outer world will adjust.

Be aware of your strengths

What aspects of your personality do you like? What are you good at? What are your strengths? Find at least 10 positive attributes before proceeding to the next step. Keep this list close at all times and read it when you feel inferior.

Be positive and optimistic

Do you know the song ‘Always look on the bright side of life?’ Start living in accordance with the lyrics of that song and stop negative thinking about where you are today. Instead, reflect on what you have already achieved in life and visualize positive things that you expect in the future.

Be thankful

Every night and every morning find the time to say thanks for all that you have and the special things that have happened in the past 24 hours. You will be amazed at how many things you can be thankful for. Even when it looks like that nothing goes as planned, you can be grateful for being alive, having a roof over your head, enough food, clean drinking water and so on. Most of these things we take for granted. Take this exercise seriously because it can really change your life.

Set smart goals for all your plans

Write down your goals, dreams and desires with a lot of detail. Then arrange them by priority and begin working immediately on the first goal, by dividing it into smaller achievable steps. Every day, read your list of goals and steps, until it becomes a new habit. Highlight and celebrate every goal achieved.

Be proactive

Do not wait for things to happen, but make sure that they happen. Encourage motivation and determination by imagining how it will all look after you accomplish what you have planned. Proclaim your plans to others and ways that they can help you in achieving them.

Mix with the right people

Sometimes it is necessary to improve your circle of influence. Join the clubs, associations or organizations where you will meet successful people full of confidence. Good social contacts can help you in your professional life. Moreover, if you feel that someone is spreading their negative energy towards you, distance yourself from that person.

Feel the nature

Go out for a walk in nature as often as you can. The exercise will do you good and, what’s more, clean air will also help you clear your mind. From time to time you should get away from the fast pace of modern civilization and give yourself the opportunity to stay alone with your thoughts in your own spiritual retreat or just concentrate on meditation in nature.

Find balance in your life

Playing sports or having hobbies can improve self-confidence. It may also help in maintaining health. A healthy body and mind play an important role in raising self-esteem and achieving balance in life. Raising self-esteem does not happen overnight, but if you try hard, you will see a positive change. Your improved self-confidence will help you in all aspects of life. You will feel the changes in relationships, career, and, most importantly, in the attitude towards yourself.
