"Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual expereince of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude." - Denis Waitley

Imagine running a 5K run and being pelted with different colored powders at every kilometer so by the time you reach the finish line you're basically doused in an array of different colors. This is what you can expect if you choose to run in the annual 5K Color Run! (: It has become the single largest event series in the U.S. and has been growing since its beginnings in January of 2012 from over 50 events and 600,000 participants to over 100 events and over a million participants in 2013! And there are only two rules: 1) Wear white at the starting line. 2) Finish plastered in color.

"The Color Run, also known as the 'Happiest 5K on the Planet', is a unique paint race that celebrates healthiness, happiness and individuality."

Although the Color Run is a fun event, there is also a focus on health and wellness. More than 60% of participants are first time 5K runners! The Color Run was also featured on Nickelodeon's Worldwide Day of Play, which is "an initiative to motivate youth to get out and be active."

Along with a focus on health, The Color Run also promotes happiness! Travis Snyder, founder of The Color Run, states, "We call The Color Run the 'Happiest 5K on the Planet' because our events bring together friends and family in a unique, healthy, and fun environment."

Individuality is the last key aspect that The Color Run likes to promote. Each runner is different; they're of different ages and backgrounds. With no winners, The Color Run has a wide variety of participants ranging from 2 year olds to 80 year olds. Everyone also has their own reasons for running including: honoring loved ones who have passed or are fighting diseases, to celebrate healthy living accomplishments, or even for love. The Color Run event has seen almost 10 marriage proposals and one wedding!

Along with promoting health, happiness and individuality, The Color Run also gives back! The Color Run is a for-profit company and love to partner with charities to help raise awareness and highlight the causes they stand for. So far they have raised donations for over 80 local and national charities since 2012.

I think The Color Run is such a GREAT idea! :D Not only are you having fun, but you are also working out, being around loved ones, being yourself and possibly helping charities! I'm definitely going to participate in one! (; So how can you sign up? Well you find out when The Color Run will be coming near you here, click on the city and then you can register!
