"If you have nothing to be grateful for check your pulse." - Unknown

What do you think of running through muddy terrain in an obstacle course where the objective is to find as many as flags as you, which happen to have monetary value, all while competing with loads of other people? Sounds a bit crazy right? Well, this is the basic concept of a new, exciting "run" that helps encourage health, fitness and giving all at once! Basically Benjamin Dash runners, or "Dashers," will go through an obstacle course in order to find as many flags as they can. When they reach the end, they trade in these flags for actual cash and they can choose how much they want to donate to a charity of their choice, or how much they want to keep for themselves, with potential winnings of over $5000!

"Run for respect. Run for your cause. Run for the Benjamins."

This is how it works:
First of all you have to be 18 years or older. At the start of the race you'll be given a belt and an instruct will brief you with the basic rules and a quick story. When the race begins you'll see obstacles with flags, worth monetary values ranging from $1 to $100, all around them. Also the amount that the total flags are worth depends on the amount of people that sign up for the race, so bring as many as your friends as you can! An average wave of Dashers will have $3500 to $5000 worth of flags. You try to pull off as many flags as you can and strap them on your belt but watch out for charity warriors, which are people from non-profit organizations that will try to take your flags for whatever charities they are representing. Also you are not allowed to pull flags from other Dashers! There are also hidden treasures and traps all over the course. When you reach the end you can choose to donate to any of the causes the Benjamin Dash supports or keep the earnings for yourself! (All info from here)

Does this sound like something you'd want to participate in? Well, the first annual Benjamin Dash will be held in Miami, Florida and after that they will be going to Orlando, Gainesville, Tallahassee, Atlanta, New York, Boston, Tennessee, Pittsburgh, and Kentucky. If you're interested in registering visit their website here.

I don't know why I have this fascination with runs lately (Color Run post here), but there is something about them that I just love! Although I haven't participated in any I think it would be such a neat experience: you get to keep up your health, have a good time, be around friends and family all while raising money for a good cause! Like, what more could you ask for? I also really like that these events are raising awareness about health and fitness. If you guys do participate in any of these events I would love to hear about your experiences. (:
